CREATIVE PRODUCTS (SOUTH WALES) LTD

THE COMPANY

Creative Products (South Wales) Ltd manufactures bespoke kitchen units, with a key focus on the high volume social housing market.

OUR INVOLVEMENT IN CONSTRUCT WALES

Valleys to Coast in Bridgend is a long-term client for Creative Products, both through a supply chain partnership with Connaughts, as well as a direct supply contract. Creative Products were keen to participate in Construct Wales to further improve their competitiveness by looking at potential efficiencies in the manufacturing process and by reducing waste.

WHAT WE`VE ACHIEVED

Through Construct Wales, the company undertook work on continual process mapping and project flow. The aim was to understand how components move around the factory during manufacture and identify areas of potential cost reduction. Putting together instructions for the workforce on assembly of the units has led to greater flexibility and a faster and more efficient assembly process.

In addition involvement in Construct Wales has helped Creative Products to instigate quality measurement systems to monitor both internal performance and customer satisfaction levels.

Creative Products is the first company in the project to achieve the Green Dragon Environmental Standard Level 2. This commitment to environmental improvement and focus on greater efficiency drove the installation of a wood burner in the factory. The result is that 90 - 95% of the waste wood generated in the manufacturing process is now recycled, significantly reducing the cost of waste removal as well as heating bills.

THE BENEFITS

"We are beginning to see some very positive results from our involvement with Construct Wales," explains Nigel Thomas, Creative Products'' Managing Director. "Greater flexibility means we can respond more quickly to client requirements. And we can pass cost reductions on to customers by providing better value."

"As a direct consequence of the project, our turnover has increased and we have increased our workforce by 200%. Whilst we are still in the early stages, we anticipate further improvements and continued growth."
